Always again one hears from various sources that bleaching makes the teeth more sensitive to pain and temperature changes. Today we would like to address this topic and shed light on the darkness. In this article, we refer to information that from the Federal Chamber of Dentists to be provided.
How bleaching works
Bleaching can work in various ways. Since the goal is always to lighten the teeth, different methods have been established. For example, in the OnlySmile Teeth Whitening Powder and some toothpaste, for example, use small cleaning particles that are intended to remove discoloring deposits on the tooth surface. This method is considered relatively safe, but it is usually not what is meant when talking about bleaching in the classical sense.
Bleaching uses a chemical bleaching agent, usually hydrogen peroxide, to lighten the color of the teeth. The bleaching agent penetrates the tooth and breaks down the color substances present, which in turn makes the teeth appear whiter. Such a gel can be found, for example, in our OnlySmile Teeth Whitening Kit. In addition, a lamp is also included. The concentration of hydrogen peroxide is subject to strict regulations that are intended to ensure the safety of customers during use.
So how does it relate to sensitivity?
With proper application, no adverse effect on the tooth is to be expected when using a gel. This applies to both sensitivity and temperature comfort. An adverse effect can only arise from the use of heat-emitting lamps. These dehydrate the tooth and thus damage it in the long term. This is also one of the reasons why OnlySmile does not use heat-emitting lamps, but rather an LED.
We at OnlySmile care deeply about the safety of our customers. That’s why we include a package insert with application instructions for every product and develop our powders and gels exclusively in Germany, where strict quality standards ensure the safety of our customers when used properly.
