If the gel was applied unevenly to the teeth...
... after application you have double the work. The teeth whitening gel contains the whitening active ingredients. To avoid an uneven result, please ensure that the gel covers all teeth equally. When in doubt, pay attention to the edges and gaps of crooked teeth and apply the gel to the tray as well. A patchy result can be improved with the next application, but it is still annoying and avoidable.
If the gel has been left on for too long...
... you should not expect any side effects. If you accidentally leave the gel on for too long, for example because you forgot the time or fell asleep in the middle of it, this, according to our experience, has no impact on your oral health. This is because, on the one hand, the active ingredient concentration in the OnlySmile teeth whitening gel is low, and on the other hand, the gel is significantly diluted by saliva over time and distributed throughout the oral cavity.
The lamp automatically turns off after 30 minutes. If the gel has still been in effect for longer, remove the mouthpiece and rinse your mouth thoroughly. You also do not need to worry about any side effects even if the recommended exposure time is exceeded.
If the mouthpiece doesn't fit properly when bleaching teeth at home...
... is not particularly dramatic. The main actor in teeth whitening is the gel. The LED lamp in the mouthpiece does accelerate the process, but it does not negatively affect the result per se if the light does not reach all teeth equally at the beginning. The dental tray keeps the gel in place. However, it is almost impossible for you to insert the tray incorrectly. Once in the mouth, it automatically conforms to the teeth due to its predetermined shape.
If the LED lamp goes out during use...
... this is probably due to the low battery level. In this case, we recommend that you cancel the application and charge the lamp. You can then repeat the application and follow the instructions. Before the next use, make sure that the lamp is fully charged and recharge if necessary. The charging time is approximately ½ hour.
